The largest fashion show of the year is always Opening Day at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club. The crowd of over 40,000 arrived decked out in their best fashions, coming for the Hats and the Horses. This year the season ran from July 17 to September 4. It is always Hat frenzy for women looking for the right hat. This year one of my creations, a red top hat was featured on the cover of FINE Magazine.
As a hat designer I have made eye-turning chapeaus for women to wear to the races for 28 years. Alexis Del Chiaro who is Good Morning San Diego’s News Anchor from KUSI wore a different one of my hats every hour and had the viewer’s vote on which one was their favorite. The most popular was a luscious pink fascinator. If you missed my segment with Alexis on KUSI check it out on http://ow.ly/nLLcU
Leslie Lopez, Weather Anchor for Good Morning San Diego sported two hats during the on air weather segments and was featured in an article by San Diego Reader looking uber chic:
Philanthropist Lena Evans, Stylist Mahjuba Levine, ShopLocalSD Rebekah Sager, FINE Magazine publisher Heather Winfield, and FOX 5 Raha Sheik were sighted rocking Diana Cavagnaro-Couture Millinery hats.
During the summer I taught hat making at West City College in Point Loma. Many of my students arrived at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club wearing their creations from the class. Check out their work below:
